ZUNI STEW

In this fast-paced Southwestern mystery, newly minted doctor Jack D’Amico is catapulted from a Chicago hospital to a military post on the Zuni reservation in New Mexico. Upon learning that his family back home has been slaughtered and he’s next on the list, he is spirited into hiding by a Zuni medicine man whose magical powers, when ignited, ricochet throughout the landscape. The story, set in post-Watergate 1973, is redolent with cynicism, speed, and greed—in direct opposition to the sacred world of the Zunis, where the concept of time does not exist, leaving Jack to wonder about what is real as he fights to stay alive.
